Meeting Set for Proposed Tri-City Area (Alameda County, CA) Water Rate Increase
(Nov. 30, 2008, The Argus)
The increases would help pay for capital projects, operations, and system updates.
They also would help offset revenue losses caused by customers’ voluntary cutbacks on water use, said Will Ligh, finance manager for the district.
The proposal would affect the consumption rate, and the bimonthly service charge.
A 6 percent increase to the consumption rate would raise prices from $2.388 per “unit” (1 unit is 748 gallons) to $2.531.
An average family using about 300 gallons a day would see an increase of about 7 cents a day, Ligh said.
The proposed increase to the bimonthly service charge would boost rates from $10.08 to $10.68.
