(Jan. 15, 2009, Arizona Geology)

Starting this month, Resolution Copper will start dewatering its mine shaft in Superior, treat that water and then send it to New Magma Irrigation District located near Queen Creek via a pipeline for use in irrigating crops.

This sounds like a significant step with impacts on water agencies, agriculture, and mining. I’m anxious to hear more at a panel discussoin on “First in Arizona: Reuse of Mine Water” will discuss this innovation at the Water Resources Research Center at UA on Jan. 21, from Noon -1:30 pm. Speakers are Bill Baker – Ellis & Baker, P.C., Bill Van Allen – New Magma Irrigation District, Jeff Silvertooth and Janick Artiola, both at UA Dept. of Soil, Water & Environmental Science.

Water Resources Research Center is at 350 N. Campbell in Tucson.
