The Orange County Water District and Association of California Water Agencies announce Clair A. Hill scholarship for 2009-2010 Academic year

Fountain Valley, Calif.  (Nov. 11, 2008) –  Earlier this year, the Orange County Water District (OCWD) received the Clair A. Hill Award for excellence in water management and innovation from the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA). As the honored recipient, OCWD is privileged to administer the Clair A. Hill Scholarship for the 2009-2010 academic year.

ACWA began its scholarship in 1988 to assist talented and innovative students join the effort to ensure California’s water quality and to implement sound water management policies. This year, ACWA continues its academic scholarship program by offering a $5,000 scholarship in the name of water leader Clair A. Hill to a qualified student in various water resources-related fields of study.
To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must be California residents attending California colleges or universities. Applicants must have completed their sophomore work and at the time of the award be full-time students in their junior or senior year; and they must plan to attend school for the complete academic year. The award will be based not only on scholastic achievement, but also on the individual’s commitment and motivation to his or her chosen vocation.

The scholarship recipient should demonstrate commitment to the field of water resources by pursuing a degree related to, or identified with, water resources related fields of study (Ex: engineering, agricultural and/or urban water supply, environmental studies or public administration). The following cities utilize the groundwater basin managed by OCWD: Anaheim, Buena Park, Costa Mesa, Cypress, Fountain Valley, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Irvine, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Newport Beach, Orange, Placentia, Santa Ana, Seal Beach, Stanton, Tustin, Villa Park, Westminster and Yorba Linda.
